Press Release

Mr. Wu Zhiwei accepted, without reservation, the challenge that I, as Executive President of www.porcham.com, proposed to him as a Vice-Presidency in our Chamber of Commerce and Industry based in Guangzhou, China. It was with deep regret that we learned of his disappearance on January 2nd! Mr. Wu Zhiwei built a relevant business empire in Asia, with a strong presence in Macau, Guangzhou, and Europe, more specifically in Portugal!

He was one of the most dedicated personalities to the Portuguese cause and bilateral relations with China. He supported renovations and initiatives at the Embassy and Consulates General of Portugal in China. He invested in IPOR, Instituto Português do Oriente, to finance it, becoming a reference shareholder alongside Instituto Camões and Fundação Oriente. He was a member of the Combatants League and an extraordinary member of the Commandos Association. He supplied Portuguese wine, of the highest quality, to the State Council of the People's Republic of China. He placed, countless times, the human resources of his companies and his financial resources at the service of Portugal's interests!

For all this, Mr. Wu Zhiwei deserved, as a Portuguese, a posthumous State Tribute!

At this difficult time for his Family and friends, as Executive President of PORCHAM, in addition to evoking his memory, I appeal to the Portuguese Authorities to finally recognize the services of this Most Noble Portuguese Citizen!
